Replacement Light Function on the Vehicle:

Some modern vehicle models activate an alternative light function to compensate for a failed rear lighting function until the issue is resolved. For example, if the rear indicator light fails, the reversing light may be used with a blinking function. This replacement light function on the vehicle must not interfere with the operation of the trailer lights. In the event of an indicator light failure, the same-side rear light substitutes for the defective trailer indicator by flashing at the indicator frequency (light substitution). If a vehicle is already equipped with a wiring harness from JAEGER automotive containing a conventional trailer control unit, this can be replaced with an LED-compatible alternative.
